Jewelry Acronyms
Hello! You may be seeing all sorts of acronyms across the page when we describe jewelry, so I wanted to add a list to make it more helpful:
GF = Gold Filled (a layer of gold bonded to a base metal)
GLP (GP) = Gold Plated (a thin layer of gold electroplated onto a base metal)
SLP = Silver Plated (a thin layer of silver over the base metal)
GLF = Gold Finished
SLF = Silver Finished (a silver colored coating or plating on a base metal)
K (KT) = The purity of gold (e.g 14K, 18K, 24K, etc)
SS = Sterling Silver (an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, typically copper)
PLT = Platinum (a rare precious metal)
RGP = Rose Gold Plated (an alloy coating of rose gold)
RGF = Rose Gold Filled (generally 75% gold and 24% copper, may be 18K or 14K (with silver) usually)
